• Hi all,

    I have the following question:

My client has a WordPress website and he had linked a lot of images all over the internet. Now I have the folder of images in the root of the website, but WordPress won’t recognize them if you try to type the url. So my question is if I can restore the old links( I don’t have to use the images, I just want them to show in the old links)

    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Hi deiwp,

    A few clarifcations please:

My client has a WordPress website and he had linked a lot of images all over the internet.

Does the linked images reside on the same wordpress server?

Now I have the folder of images in the root of the website, but WordPress won’t recognize them if you try to type the url.

What exactly do you mean that wordpress wouldn’t recognize them? Are you referring to the absolute/direct link to the image so when accessed via browser it doesn’t show up?

So my question is if I can restore the old links( I don’t have to use the images, I just want them to show in the old links)

Why would you want to restore the old links? Can you mention the modifications you did please? Can you point out the old vs. new links too as I’m assuming you are trying to move to a different server.

    Thank you!

Yes, the folder is in the root under images and WordPress is under clickandbuilds/wordpress/mycmsback2/ – so basically on the same server.

Yes, when I want to do an absolute link to them e.g. https://www.capnfishy.co.uk/images/CP/CP18Oct14_7672.jpg then it’s showing the page cannot be found.

The server is the same and it’s going to be the same, what I want is his old links to images on forums etc. to be showing up again e.g. https://www.flyfishing.co.uk/photo-gallery/307184-leaping-salmon-photo-shoot-years-attempts-part-1-a.html like in this post.

Sorry for being really bad in clarifying hope this time is more clear,

Thanks a lot for your reply,

    Dave
