  • Problem is because of name of archive. In my case old name of archive was:
“DB_backwpup_ca355b_%Y-%m-%d_%H-%i-%s”, but after update name was changed to “backwpup_ca355b01_DB_backwpup_ca355b_%Y-%m-%d_%H-%i-%s”. And plugin has problem with counting old backups because of “new” name… I have tried to change manually name to older – without prefix, but I cant – automatically after save is added prefix “backwpup_ca355b01_”… HELP…
Tested on 3 instances of wordpress with this plugin.

@macb, are the backups with the new name being deleted okay? This is intentional behavior that it will not accept the old name. It requires the format so that it can track which files belong to it. You will have to manually delete the old archives.

After I deleted the existing job, deactivated the plugin, reactivated the plugin and re-setup the job, my issue seems to have been resolved.

Many thanks for all the help.

Problem isn’t solved for me :/ I have over 10 wordpress instances, each have 3 others jobs and backups are sended to FTP, DropBox and local…
    > Deleting existing jobs, deactivating the plugin, reactivating the plugin and re-setup 3 jobs on each instances… It take me about 2 hours… GOD WHY?
I can delete older backup, but why “intentional behavior” is adding second time prefix with ID backup in name of archive?

@macb, you should not need to delete the jobs and deactivate the plugin. Are you experiencing the issue of it not deleting newer files on its own, on all of your installations?

If you look at the archive name field, it has a note beneath it that says what the prefix needs to be. Edit your archive name to match that, if it isn’t already, and hit save. That should do it, if it is not working for you.

    Hi,

I do have exactly the same problem with several sites. It seems that recently, after latest updates, backwpup forgot to count the saved number of backups in the dropbox account so it forgot to delete the oldest backups.

There is no connection for me with the name of the files, the prefix is ok.
I need to manually delete the old backups in every dropbox account every 5-6 days…

    Thanks,

    Hi,

same problem here… 20+ installations, since two weeks or so old backups on dropbox aren’t deleted anymore. Any solution?

It worked perfectly before, and this happens now on many of my sites. ..

    thanks,

@all, this will be fixed in the new release hopefully later this week. If you’d like a fix earlier than that, you may contact us at support [at] backwpup.com. It’s been confirmed to fix this issue for other users.

    @cocreation : Was this released in 3.4.1?

    Hi @andrewmacheret, yes it was.

Hi, I have the same problem with BackWPup 3.4.4
I have a backup job to 3 locations, local folder, FTP and Dropbox. All leave old backup files despite having set a value for “file deletion”.

Is there a solution to make the plugin work again other than deleting the job and recreating it?
