    I have just been reading this article about SKUs for Amazon and Ebay

    This appears to be the oporsite as I would expect it. We have the same products in ebay and amazon but amazon requires an ASIN as well as an SKU and the product is locked in to the ASIN so the SKU cannot be changed

    Would it not be better to download products from Amazon with the ASIN and SKU and then use this SKU in woo-commerce to link the products to ebay? We could then revise the items in ebay with the new SKU, because it cant be done the other way around

    I am not sure what you are saying that should be done in reverse.

    Are you saying that it is better to import from Amazon first then eBay? If so, the reason why you should import from eBay first is because when you import from eBay, you must do this on an empty Woocommerce site – meaning no products or categories. So if you imported from Amazon first, that would create products in Woocommerce and therefore your Woocommerce install would not be empty.

    So thats why? If that was changed, then doing the import in reverse would certainly be easier when it concerns Amazons ASINs. It would nice to import Amazon in a test category in woo and then build your categories and assign the products. Then do the same for ebay without importing any SKUs and then maybe link them manually or link them via there name automagically

    Anyway, i have issues with totally different SKU’s so looking for solution

    Actually, this isn’t about whether the WooCommerce site is empty or not (sorry, John). Yes, ideally you would always import into a fresh WooCommerce site, but if you want to link your existing products from both eBay and Amazon, you obviously can’t import into an empty site twice.

    No, the reason why we recommend to first import from eBay is actually explained on the exact page you mentioned. There it says:

    Since some details like variation attributes can no be changed for certain eBay listings, the first import should be done from eBay. If you would import from Amazon first, you might not be able to revise certain eBay listings due to their restrictions.

    So if you don’t have any variations, or you’re sure that all your variation attributes on eBay and Amazon are exactly identical, then go ahead and give it a try. You can import from Amazon first, but you might run into problems with eBay items which can not be revised (due to variation attribute mismatch), which would be more difficult to fix than the SKU issue you’re currently experiencing.

    But you’re right: if your ebay items don’t have any SKUs (or different SKUs than on Amazon), then the whole process of importing from both marketplaces won’t work properly. That’s why step 2 of the documentation is to “Add missing SKUs”. Of course you could also add the SKUs directly on eBay, before running the import. But the documentation makes it very clear that you must use the same SKUs on both eBay and Amazon (or WooCommerce and Amazon, if you already imported from eBay) before you can proceed with importing from Amazon.
