• Yoast used to be the go-to plugin for all SEO needs, an essential part of every WordPress site. However, their recent stunt of littering the WordPress admin with flashy banner advertisements is simply a step too far. The fact that this decision took place and code was written to make this happen, speaks volumes for the management and leadership of this plugin. Unfortunately, they cannot be trusted, especially in a professional environment. I’ll be closely monitoring Yoast’s response to the inevitable community backlash and in my next build, I may be looking elsewhere for my SEO needs.

  • I’m thinking I should switch too, just the fact that they would even think this is ok seems like something is wrong with the developers.

    Hi @9xpi,

    Thanks for your comment.

We understand that the Black Friday banner was annoying. Although it was dismissable, it was a bit buggy so we listened to our community and yesterday we publicly apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused to our users (link to Twitter) and released Yoast SEO v12.6.2 which completely removes the banner from the admin panel.

We appreciate your taking the time to send your feedback.
