• I am a WP developer with over 50 sites under my belt. To date I have been ignoring Gutenburg in the same way as I ignored the classic editor – I just don’t need it. However, I have learned that one behemoths like Microsfot, Adobe, Apple and now WordPress release something new, resistence is futile – eventually, maybe years down the track they will win and then you kick yourself for not trying to learn from day one.
So lockdown and the fact that my business is in the bin seemed like the perfect opportunity to take the plunge.
I can barely find the words to say how bad this is. It’s clumsy, counter-intuitive and, for the most part, entirely baffling. Perhaps the most criminal failing is that it makes using WP for non-coders (a VERY large number of users) MUCH more difficult than the classic.
My advice for developers is to have a little play about for an hour at each upgrade just to keep abreast of progress(?) and for amateurs … higher a developer, shoot yourself or head over to Wix or squarespace.
