  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Woah, way beyond my expertise. I cannot even login to the admin panel? I am just working on the site for them remotely, do not have anything saved to my computer in terms or re-uploading files. My client is going to kill me… Walk me through this?

Please re-read my post above. None of the suggestions I made require you to login to your WordPress dashboard.

    esmi,
I have the same problem. Followed your instructions – renamed my theme via FTP, renamed plugin folder an still cannot login to my admin panel.

Switching to Twenty Eleven did not happened after renaming my theme.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /storage/home/srv13076/zoya/wp-admin/includes/screen.php on line 16

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks in advance

@anivers Starting your own topic with your own details would be a great start. ?? Really, your problem is not the same as the OP.

Try the usual troubleshooting steps (all of them):

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thank you very much. Finally installing the new version manually helped and I can operate my admin panel.
Though my theme does not work. When I switch to it I get the message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_current_screen() (previously declared in /storage/home/srv13076/zoya/wp-content/themes/your-theme_old/functions.php:5) in /storage/home/srv13076/zoya/wp-admin/includes/screen.php on line 187

but the website works fine with my theme.

Is there anything I can do to make the panel work with my theme again?

Is there any option to keep my current theme? Do I have to add a function in functions.php or something?
