OG:image facebook doesn’t show image in non English letters.

    Hello dear Yoast SEO team,

    I believe this issue may be more related to Facebook, but I would appreciate hearing your opinion as well.

    The problem is as follows: all of my post’s featured images are named in Hebrew with the .jpg extension, and suddenly, about a week ago, they stopped working when I tried to share a post on Facebook. The image link appears to be correct, but it shows up as broken like there is no image.
    I have used the Facebook Sharing Debugger tool.

    I conducted a test where I named the image in English, and everything worked perfectly. However, the issue is that I have to change the OG image to English for each post, which is quite inconvenient!

    Hello @virtnet,

    Thanks for reaching out about your Facebook sharing. As you may have deduced, the problem is not with the Yoast SEO plugin. If you check your page source, the og:image you defined should be there.

    I have the exact same problem with Japanese featured image files names.

    About two weeks they stopped showing when shared on Facebook. This is a nightmare because our blog has hundreds of posts all with images using Japanese file names ??

    Did you get any feedback from Facebook? I have not had any response.

    Thank you @Maybellyne I have opened a support ticket. This problem is also for all plugins.

    Hi @star_rider Unfortunately nobody responded. I saw many people is complaining about this strange behavior of the OG who name the images in non English letters. Even for them nobody is responded.
