  • Hi,

We would like some more information.

    A. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v9.5?

    B. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    C. Can you provide a URL that highlights the issue? We understand Facebook has an issue with the image but what is the URL it is associated with?

    Hi Pcosta88,

Yes I am using Yoast Seo v9.5
    Wordpress 5.0.3
Yes Theme up to date and all plugins.
But I have disabled all plugins and just had Yoast Seo active but still no picture showing.

    This is the url.
    https://www.newzealandweddingphotographer.co.nz

No post from my website, blog posts, page posts etc. No images for anything.
I have selected the image in the yoast plugin under social. And then I have also selected images in yoast when doing posts as well.

The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.?

    Any ideas? Thank you.

The provided image, https://www.newzealandweddingphotographer.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/facebook.png, returns a 404 Not Found page. This means the image URL does not exist on your site. Please use a valid image URL.

If this was an example URL where you replaced the actual image URL with a generic term, please test the actual image URL in the Facebook Debugger. Sometimes, the tool with provide image specific information when you check the physical image URL.

    Hi,

Yes that or any image returns a 404 error but the image for the link is on my site.
I just named it facebook as I made that one to the facebook size 1200 x 630

Just put the link in the debugger and it said.
could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.?

We rechecked the page and currently are not seeing any Open Graph tags being output. Is the plugin still active on your site and is Open Graph enabled?

Hi sorry forgot to reactivate it.
    It is active now.

As long as this image URL is invalid, Facebook will not accept it.

Please check that you have the correct URL for the image by going to Admin > Media and search for the image. Click on the image to load the image details. Compare the file URL to the URL listed above. Are they the same URL?

    Hi,

Yes the image is selected from my wordpress media library that has been uploaded, also I’ve changed to other images with the same result.
    Same url.
Just clicked on the url you posted and loads the image.
Any ideas please, and thank you for taking a look.

Here is what I see when I load that image: https://pasteboard.co/HZZN9mu.png

As the white text is hard to read on the image background, I highlighted it so you can see that it shows ‘Error 404’.

Can you share a screenshot of the media library with the URL showing as well as a screenshot of what you see when you load the image URL in a browser?

    Hi,

When I load or click on your link above of
    https://www.newzealandweddingphotographer.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/facebook.png

I see an image of a married couple. I just put the screenshots into my dropbox for you here.

I’m not quite sure why the image shows for you but returns a 404 Not Found in every verification tool I’ve tried. One such tool is https://httpstatus.io/

    • Do you have any security or firewalls on your server or website that prevents access to non-logged in visitors?
    • Does the image load if you log out of your site?
    • Does the image load on another computer/device?

    Hi,

Link didn’t work on my phone?
How do I know about firewalls on server or website?

My website and other images loads on my phone though?

Your webhost can provide information as to whether or not the server has a firewall.

As for site specific firewalls, these are typically added through WordPress plugins.

    Hi,

I disabled most at the start of this convo only had a few active.
    Plugins active on my site,

    yoast seo,

    lazy load,

    classic editor,
Classic Editor is an official plugin maintained by the WordPress team that restores the previous (“classic”) WordPress editor

    WPforms Lite,

Thank you for taking a look for me.

    Anything to do with hotlinks?

Hotlink prevention might cause this behavior. If you temporarily disable it and clear any server/site cache, does Facebook debugger show the image?
