Hi, I am having an issue with Facebook and Pinterest. First, I’m not seeing og:description in Page Source on Facebook. I have disabled all plugins and re-activated them to fix duplicates tags but still having the issue with og:description being missing. I have tried to manually enter a description in Yoast under Facebook description. However, it still doesn’t work.

Also, I am unable to validate Author meta tags for Pinterest which . Those seem to be missing as well.

I have already read through many similar issues on this forum but nothing suggested seemed to work. I’ve been trying to figure it out all day. Any suggestions would be appreciated

  • Hi @antimaximalist,

Thanks for creating a new topic.

You identified two questions and we’ve responded to them below.

    1. We see that the og:description tag isn’t being outputted into your pages. Can you please confirm whether the problem persists when all non-Yoast plugins are deactivated and your theme is on Twenty Nineteen? As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.
    2. As for the author information missing on Pinterest, please make sure you’ve entered your author name in the Facebook profile URL field of your WordPress user (Users > Your Profile). Note that you only have to provide the author name and not a complete URL.

Thanks for responding. The author name issue was fixed. However, for the og:description, it was indeed the theme causing the issue. Would it be possible to fix it rather than having to change the theme?

Some themes can output Open Graph metadata which can cause a conflict. We would recommend checking with your theme’s documentation to see if it’s possible to disable the Open Graph output.

    Closed. No further questions.
