This looks like a very useful plugin, however in testing it on our staging site, I noticed an odd behavior. In List view, each featured image is correctly shown. However, in Except view, the first featured image is shown as the thumb for every post that follows.

    Here are screenshots:
    List view: https://cl.ly/468f27bfda69
    Excerpt view: https://cl.ly/dc8f8ffb201d

To test further, I deleted the first post in List view, went back to Excerpt view, and now the NEW first post is showing its image as the thumb for all posts that follows:

    Excerpt View #2: https://cl.ly/13727a9e9968

Any idea why this is happening?

No idea but thank you for the details on the behavior.

Do you get the same behavior on that same staging WordPress install but running the TwentySeventeen or TwentySixteen themes? Can you report what results you get when you use one of those themes?

I am going to assume that Excerpt view is related to the theme you are using and perhaps that could be where the issue manifests itself and it’s just a matter of understanding what options there are for my plugin to provide the same behavior as in List view.

What is the name of the theme and is it publicly available such that it could be tested?

Thank you for using my plugin

Ah – silly me. I can’t remember the last time I used excerpt view over list view in any theme. So, with that in mind, I have tried to recreate your issue using some themes and sites I have but I can’t.

If you can offer some more information about the theme you are using or about how to recreate the issue then I’ll gladly see what I need to do to my plugin to address this particular issue.

If anyone else is experiencing the issue please do open a new support ticket with all your details.

I’ll assume that if I don’t hear from you in the very near future that perhaps you have found an alternative solution.

    Thank you

    Hi Sean,

We are using a custom theme as shown here: https://cl.ly/b20494d97214. It seems we’re running the most current version of the plugin too, so I cant really tell you more than that. I’m not super technical but would be happy to set you up with an admin account if you’d like to see what’s going on. Just let me know what email to use for you.

    Thanks,

    Tom

It would be nice to try and understand how to prevent this behavior. It might be the theme or even a plugin or setting within the site in combination with the theme.

And, yes please send an invite to tech at emstarinc.com

    Thank you

With Tom’s help I found some improvements to make to my code and released those in version 1.5.2.

These changes prevent the behavior Tom was experiencing with his theme and I was able to reproduce and test with his assistance.

Thank you for using my plugin.
