I am encountering a strange issue when I assign a topic to an event in the All-In-One Event Calendar. The college I work at is using version 3.0.0 at the moment, and only IT can make updates to plugins and the like. But I do have some level of admin access, and we can create events, categories, etc.

I would love to include and image here, and I am trying using google photos, but I cannot tell if it worked here in the editor. I hope it did.

If you cannot see that, I created 2 events on 2 different days — April 7 and 10. They are identical events in all ways except the one on April 7 has a category added to it so we can change the color it is displayed in. I assigned a red color to the category “closed” and nothing else.

When you first load the calendar, April is the current month, and in the view the April 10 event (without the category) looks just fine. The event is titled “Closed for Stat Holiday”. You see it only once and it looks fine.

The April 7 event, though, is really strange. It has text with a red background saying “Closed for Stat Holiday” – which is what we expect – but it is then followed by a second copy of that same text… this time in red on a white background. After that on the next like we see “Apr 7” in black on a white background, followed by “all-day” in white text on a blue oval. Finally, on the 4th line we see a ticket icon and the word “Tickets” in white text on a green background.

None of those 3 extra lines should be present as far as I can tell.

But then it gets weirder. If I use the tool just above the calendar to go look at the next month (May in this case) and then use that tool again to go back and look at April, the event displays properly, with only the one line “Closed for Stat Holiday” in white text on a red background.

In other words, this incorrect display only appears to happen for the current month and only on the initial load of the calendar.

I am at a loss to explain this, and there is nothing I have done that could cause it.

The category I created has the name “closed” and the color red. I set the slug to “closed” as well. Finally I set the description field to “MAKERSPACE CLOSED”. That’s it.

To get around this I have removed the category from the events in question. But I have not removed it from events in May and beyond yet. I kind of expect the calendar will show all those extra lines for a bunch of events when May 1 rolls around and that is the default month to load up.

Is there any help you can provide?

    Thanks.

And now I see that the photo is not visible. There seems to be no way to include it inline.

Here is a link to the photo in question:

Sorry about that. I know this is the new block based UI, but there are some real issues with it still.

And now that it’s May 1, the events in May that had the category assigned to them have all added the extra stuff as well. On April 30 they looked correct: Just a red background behind the words “Makerspace Closed”. Today they have all the rest of it.

Also as before, if I advance the calendar to June and then come back to May, the events display properly.

Here is a URL to see what it looked like first thing this morning:

And here is what it looked like after advancing to June and then going back to May:

At this point I need to remove this category from every event because it will cause confusion for our users.

Any help dealing with this would be very much appreciated.

Hmmm. Is anyone reviewing these bug reports? This seems a rather substantial bug.

Never mind. We’re running 3.0.0 of the plugin and that is no longer supported. I expect that is why there are so many bug reports here that are not responded to.

I am closing this bug as it is clear it will never be fixed.

I take it back. I cannot tell if this plugin is supported or not. Their FAQ says version 3.0.0 is no longer supported, along with an older version number, but it also appears that 3.0.0 is the current version. I have no clue what they are doing.

OK. Just because someone else might read this…

These people have essentially 2 very different versions of their calendar, but both show version number 3.0.0 and only one of them is supported.

In our case we’re still on the old version and that is not supported anymore, so even if they are reviewing these bug reports we can’t get help.

Don’t ask me to explain the version number scheme. It’s “unique” in my opinion.
