Odd problem with site loading
-
I have a weird issue on one of my sites that I’m not experiencing on any of my other sites on the same host and server. The site is: https://www.girlscantwhat.com
And after clicking around a few times (or sometimes the very first time you try to load it), the site seems to get “stuck” loading the page. The problem is – it’s as if you never clicked anything. The browser status spins (chrome, safari and firefox) as if the page is loading, but it will just sit there and spin for several minutes until I finally give up and either stop/refresh or click something else on the page that is still there.
Firebug and Chrome’s Speed Test tell me nothing because no events are registering when this happens. And it’s not a specific page. It can happen on any page at any time in any browser. Happens while accessing the admin panel as well.
I’ve tried killing all plugins, no change. I’ve used supercache, which speeds up the site, but doesn’t make the annoying hang die. WP and plugins are all up to date. The theme is my own creation. It also happens when all plugins are deactivated and the 2011 theme is applied.
It’s on Hostagator along with 10 other sites on the same reseller plan. They all perform just fine. I’m at a loss as to how to troubleshoot. Any clues?
Can deactivated plugins cause issues? Should I delete them instead of just renaming the folder to deactivate?
What else should I be looking for?
