odd delay in saving post

  • I am experiencing a long delay when saving or editing a post. This is not occasional, it happens every time. It takes at least a minute to save the changes. Yet, if I ignore the spinning ball, and just go to view the site, the changes are saved. It doesn’t seem to be serious, and I don’t mind. But I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening. I think it started after my upgrade to 1.5.1. Could it be a permissions problem? If so, which file is responsible for editing and saving posts?

    A long list of services to ping. It that causing the delay?

    …Probably…

    Suggestion: Match up what services you can with the services to ping list at:

    https://pingomatic.com/

    Pull those which are on that list, and use just

    https://rpc.pingomatic.com/

    in their place. That should help some with your post delay.

    Thanks, I got the list from the Elliot Black WP customization suggestions in the Codex. I’ll check for any redundancy and try to simplify it.

    The delay is now worse (I don’t think it’s affected by the long list of pings) Now I have to shut down my browser, then open it again to save changes to a new or old post. Basically it crashes everytime I post.

    Have you removed every ping service and tried several posts ?

    I am having the same problem. I’ve removed every ping and update service, and the time zone is correct. The posts take forever to show up…I’ve waited 20 mins for this last one, and it’s still not on the blog. I can see the post on the Manage/Post page, but click View produces the message “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” Seems the problem, i.e., length just gets progressively longer.

    Should I create a new thread?
