• We’ve had multiple users report that they are unable to run backups when they have BackUpWordPress enabled. When installed on my test server, I found that it did keep the backups from running, but not every time.

I’m unsure why object cache would preclude anything within the admin from running, or why object cache specifically would affect it.

If I can offer additional information feel free to let me know. We’ve been looking into it for a while now with not very much to show for it. The issue is listed on Github for BackUpWordPress as well if you’re prefer to add feedback there: https://github.com/humanmade/backupwordpress/issues/1038

    Thanks,
    Kat

  • What is the object cache set too? Disk or APC or Memcache. Running it from disk opens up a ton of issues such as updates for WordPress and plugins not working etc etc.

It might be a configuration error.

    Hello katmoody

I never faced any issue but I am kinda agree with @destac as I have also heard some issues using Disk method in object cache, specially in shared server. Possible to change to another method and try?

    Have a good day!

    Cheers

Hey there @destac – I’m sorry I forgot to check back in over here. I haven’t noted what it was set to in every instance, unfortunately. Just that it was set. So the object cache using disk method is particularly buggy anyway? Because of shared servers? Okay – that’s good information to have. Is there a way for us to hook into whether or not the object cache is checked so we can display a warning for users that it might interfere?

I’m going to test locally to see if I can reproduce as well. Sorry again for the late reply!

    Kat
