Obfuscated pricing practices
-
Why I won’t tolerate this plugin: I had one click accessibility plugin. I guess Elementor bought it and changed it because on multiple (20+) sites I manage, all of a sudden there’s this plugin that wants me to connect to my Elementor account. It says it’s in ‘free trial’ mode. So, I go chat with a rep from Elementor to ask how much they plan on charging me for this – they say they don’t have pricing yet (yeah, ok, not buying that). But, because I have an Elementor Pro subscription which is auto-billed, this is another attempt by Elementor to sneak in something that will then start charging me because I’ve connected it to my account, but they won’t tell me how much. That’s some of the dodgiest business practices I’ve seen from Elementor – and they do the same with their mail addon and their images optimization addon. These should be included features, not sneaky ways of charging customers more. I understand the need to charge more for the AI builder (which is total garbage, by the way), due to compute costs, but the mail, the image optimization, the accessibility addons should be automatically included with subscriptions as a value-added feature. Looks like the company is getting too greedy and going the route of dodgy which means it’s their end, their downfall, clearly in the works. Time to try other page builders, I guess and start migrating away from Elementor unless they start doing business honestly and stop these pricing obfuscation practices.
