There is no limit to subscribers. The plugin should manage a huge number of subscribers. We need more debug info to help you.
Can you create the list of recipients in dashboard?
You can create the recipient list and newsletter is ready, but do the progress rate remain at 0% forever?

Do the other emails by WP (e.g. recovery password) go out properly?
