    Hi friends,
it has been a while since my post numbers (in default slug-url) end in -2.
Is this regular? Or does that -2 penalize in some way?
    Thank you a lot.
    All the best
    M.

    Hello Mattiave,

Thanks for reaching out about your page slug.

Just to be clear, are you saying, for instance, your about us page is like example.com/aboutus-2 instead of example.com/aboutus?

well, if you rewrite with words I think you loose -2…
    think this way please:
insert new post, new number of post (by default): 133.254-2…
I think it can be no regular…
    Thank you

    Hi @mattiave

Based on your description of the issue, that looks to be how WordPress should work by default. You can’t have 2 posts or pages that have the same permalink, so the /-2/ is added at the end.

If you were to change the slug or permalink, then that’s a fine option to take as well, just so that it’s clear what the slug or permalink is and doesn’t seem like it’s a duplicate of the other post or page.

I apologize, I explained myself badly.
    There are no duplicates. never.
Imagine that in each new post wordpress proposes a number of posts (always different of course) which ends in -2.
I have other worpress sites and none of them do so even if they have yoast activated.
It started putting -2 at the end of number after an update a few months ago.
I would like to understand why and if it could be a malfunction …
    Thank you

    Hi @mattiave

We’re not sure if this is still related to the Yoast SEO plugin, but it’s likely you have another post or page with the same slug, which is why it is adding the /-2/ at the end, because it isn’t possible for 2 posts to have the same slug.

You might have to investigate this further or see if there’s another plugin or custom code on your setup that could be modifying the permalinks.
