    Hello beckswade,

There’s actually two issues going on here…

The first is that our developer who wrote the last version of sample code for ShrinkTheWeb, a few years back, did not account for empty responses from our service. That is something that was brought to light just last month and is on our list of to-do’s for all of our plugins and sample code.

Secondly, in your case, WP-Portfolio’s requests to the ShrinkTheWeb service are being dropped, which is causing these errors on your site. I found your account in our system and see that it was disabled for inactivity. You should have received a notification and explanation about this at the time of being disabled.

Also, if you had tried to log in, you would have seen this note:

Account currently disabled. Reason: Inactive Account; Reopen via Support

To reactivate your account, please open a support ticket and I’ll be happy to get you going again.

    Cheers,

    Brandon

Will reopening the account mean the problems disappear?
Please reopen account in relation to the website in question.
I received no notifications so not sure what happened there?

Reactivating the account will provide service again, which means the errors will not occur any longer.

You need to open a support ticket to have your account reactivated:

I don’t know why some email providers block our web node emails, because I know the emails are sending, we have proper PTR entries for all web nodes, and we have a correctly configured SPF record. So you would have to contact your email provider to ask them why they are not delivering some of our emails.

Even though I don’t use the shrink to web feature but use my own images?

Well now, that’s interesting. If you ONLY use your own images, then I wouldn’t expect the plugin to try to pull account information from ShrinkTheWeb. I wonder if the original developers added the “add your own images” feature as an afterthought but still expected everyone to have an STW account. I’ll have to check on that.

If so, we’ll separate it out on the next release that is coming in the next couple of months.

As a reminder to myself, I need to try removing the “Access Key” and “Secret Key” to see if that makes any difference.

However, the error should not show for you again, as I implemented a fix on our side that accommodates WP-Portfolio.

For posterity, I wanted to mention that we are finally close to releasing the next stable update of this plugin and will be taking a look at ways to allow full use of the plugin without having to have a ShrinkTheWeb account at all.

New, stable version released. This should be fixed now. Please update if you find any issues.

    Cheers!
