Number of Entries?

Hi,

What is the most accurate way to count the number of total entries in my wordpress blog? I counted added up all the entries among my categories (each post is assigned to only one category). If i were to add up the number of entries under the user tab, I get a different number. I don’t want the number of pages included, just strictly post entries. Thanks!
