Hi, this is possibly a stupid noob question.

I implemented Post SMTP plugin for my membership site for password resets etc. I just set the plugin to use my G-suite to send emails as deliverability was very poor with the original set up.

But since I’ve done this, every site notification from BBPress generates an error email from GoogleMail saying:

“Your message wasn’t delivered to [email protected] because the address couldn’t be found, or is unable to receive mail.
The response from the remote server was:
550 SITEGROUND: No Such User Here”

I think I understand why this message being generated, but how can I prevent it?

It it as simple as creating a “noreply@xxx” user email in my SiteGround hosting? I don’t use the host for email at all. I use G-suite for everything.

Is there another way around this? All these error emails are clogging my inbox!

    Thank you in advance

    Hi @mattdmcleod,

I think first you need to understand why noreply@members… is being used as a recipient. I’d say first try changing the email address from said recipient to something that works.

If that’s not an option, then yes, go ahead and create the mailbox in Siteground.

Note that I still don’t understand why Siteground is returning that message in the first place, as your explanation leads me to believe that your MXs are pointing to Gmail and not Siteground in the first place.

Is your members domain email being handled by G-suite or is that not your domain at all?

    Cheers,
    Vinny

Hi Vinny, I assumed the email address “[email protected]” that BBPress Notify was sending to was configurable, but I have not been able to locate it in the plugin settings (however I may be looking in the wrong locations). If it is I would be grateful for your advice where to find it.

    You have made me wonder….

G-suite is sending from my TLD: @krankengineering.com.

The members site is on a subdomain: members.krankengineering.com but I am using the TLD to send site emails.

I really am a little lost, and maybe the problem is somewhere else and it is manifesting itself with BBPress Notify emails causing Google to throw this error.

I would be very pleased to hear some ideas for troubleshooting.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

If bbpnns is sending TO that address, then it’s one of the users that has that address.

If it’s sending it with that address in the ‘From’ header, then it’s either set in the Admin > General screen, or you have some plugin that’s forcing that address in the From header.

Bbpnns also has a filter to allow people to change the From header, but I don’t think that’s your case.

    Cheers,
    Vinny
