    Hi,
I am new to all of this but wanted to start a small online shop using the Handmade theme. I have got the domain and hosting ok and have downloaded and installed Handmade. I have also been able to sort the menu and basic pages out.

The problem is, I am unable to put photos on the site. I have been able to upload to the Gallery but after that can not put them on the pages. I have started first on the Home page, and in Page Attributes, I have have made the Page Template a Widgetised Page, with the intention of various images on this page. But after this, I am stuck – when I press Update, the page goes blank and does not return.

What is the best way forward to use this theme to make a shopfront.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Hey Dave, Handmade is a commercial theme, so you need to get assistance from the theme shop you purchased it from.

Hi Dave. If the page is going white after clicking Update, there may be something causing an error. Have you tried deactivating your plugins and reactivating one-by-one to see if a specific plugin might be causing an issue?

Thanks for the help so far. I bought the theme from Envato so I have sent them a query for my problem.

The Plugins that are installed are now all deactivated
(Akismet, Grunion Contact Form, Hello Dolly, Jetpack, MojoMarketplace, W3 Total Cache, WooCommerce, WordPress EasySlides)

I don’t know which of these I will actually need. I have tried Add Media to the Home page and IT WORKS! THANK YOU EngageWP.

It looks untidy and I will need to work out how to have images displayed more effectively; there are loads of different options and I wondered if I need a Widgitised Page format with a particular image display plugin. There is only one blog page, the rest will be pictures/text/marketplace. What do you suggest I do?

    The web site is at

    Thanks

Hi Dave. You don’t need a widgetized home page to display multiple images. Just use the WordPress classes for images which are available using the Add Media interface (i.e. alignnone, alignleft, alignright, aligncenter) and some HTML/CSS. A widgetized home page for simple images is overkill.

    Hi again folks.
Does anyone know of any examples of websites with the WordPress Handmade theme?
    Thanks

I am plodding on with the theme, but this issue is resolved now so I will mark it so.
