• I have been charged with maintenance of an ancient ColdFusion/Access website. My goal is to move it to a modern platform like WP and it seems this plugin might do the trick. The main feature of the website is a search function to filter results for 4000 varieties/species of clematis. I have exported the DB as a CSV file. Looks like I can reconfigure the default values in the plugin to accept it.

If someone with experience has a few minutes to play with the existing website to see if I’m on the wrong/right path here, please let me know what you think.

There are a number of standard pages I can handle fine. It’s the search that matters. It doesn’t have to be exactly perfect. We just need to get off of the antique software so we can begin to move forward.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I took a look at the site and yes, I think Participants Database will do the job for you.

If you’re planning to import the data from another database, take a look at this article, it should be helpful:

Migrating an Existing Database into Participants Database

It’s a good idea to work with a small subset of the data, (1 or 2 records only) so you can quickly fine-tune the process and make sure it works as expected before doing your bulk import.

I also suggest you take a look at our Combo Multisearch plugin that adds a highly configurable search control to Participants Database.

thank you for the very encouraging and detailed reply! I’ll be able to get into the wok soon and report on how it goes.

I’m taking another stab at this. It’s been really frustrating. I spent the time to set up the database fields in the Participant Info field a few weeks ago. The sample export is still just a single column: id. So, the import fails.

Take a look at the documentation, make sure you have the CSV export configured the way you want it.

You will need to check that all the fields you want included in the export have the “CSV” checkbox checked in the field configuration.

If that is OK, and you’re still not getting the full export, then some kind of error is happening that stops it. You’ll need to use your php error log to see what the problem is.
