• I just spent the last hour testing various Twitter plugins that all seemed perfectly up to date, except the fact that they were still using the old Twitter authentication method: user login and password.

If at all possible, I think it would be a very good idea to notify all Twitter-WordPress plugin authors about this API change, and kindly ask them to either announce their plugin as discontinued, or promptly update it.

Right now, the WordPress plugin directory is overflowing with outdated and plain broken Twitter plugins, which is a real shame.

There’s nothing we can do short of either posting something here or tracking down contact information if their plugin pages happens to link to their site.

In other words, if you’d like to track them down and contact them, that would be great!

Keep in mind that the developers may no longer be interested in updating their plugins.

There are plenty of plugins that currently work, one of which is this:

Can someone please tell me how to remove the TwitterAPI login box that keeps coming up on my site? It’s driving people away! ??

Plus I don’t have any plugins pointing to Twitter ??

    Thank you!!

    leylap – check your theme.

Most likely something going on there if you have no plug-ins using Twitter or connecting to Twitter.

I did and there doesn’t seem to be anything remotely related to Twitter. these are the plugins I have. would you know if any of them could be causing the trouble?

I really could do with your help. It’s driving me mad!! ??
