Notify Admin of Email Delivery Errors

    Recently our site displayed this error in the Dashboard:
    EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.5.2 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email

    We fixed the problem, but didn’t realize it wasn’t working until we logged in and saw the error. In the meantime, emails weren’t sent out.
    Is there a way to notify the Admin by email, like a fallback method, when there are Errors that prevent mail from being sent?

    Or to keep a log of unsent emails so we won’t miss any?

    I apologize for the trouble. Unfortunately, there isn’t any way to notify administrators about the failed error as we can’t guarantee that email to the admin will be delivered successfully. So, the email delivery notice on the admin dashboard is the only option for now.

    In case it helps, our Pro version has the ability to log all the emails. If you use ‘Other SMTP’ option, it will also mark the emails as sent or not sent. Here’s our tutorial on logging emails on our pro version.

    Ok, so just to confirm, the only way to know if any emails were not sent, is to upgrade to Pro and choose the Other SMTP option, with this option being the last choice of all available options due to reliability, etc?

    I apologize for any confusion. The error logged on the admin dashboard is still the most effective way to know if any emails fail. Pro version logs all emails sent via the site and currently, only the emails sent with ‘Other SMTP’ can be marked as sent or not sent. However, to implement this on other of the available mailers is on our list as we plan our roadmap for the future.
