Been happening for a while now – My customer reports to me that not all notifications are going out.

He has a consistent user base and they typically ALL click the link to open his site to read the post. Lately he’s having a lot of single check marks telling him they were sent – but not read. This is leading him to believe people aren’t even getting the notification.

Additionally, he’s getting some people to report that they DID receive the notification but the back-end does NOT report this…so we have a couple things going on here…

These flaws began with the March 26th post and have continued with the April 15th post. Something happened just prior to the 26 because up until then things have been working great.

I noticed there have been a couple WP updates and many updates to this plugin since then but can we please look into this issue? We are current with updates too.

  • Hello @n20capri,

Thank you for reporting the issue.

Please try sending a sample new post notification email to a test group/myself and see if you are receiving the post notification or not. Also, interpret the report manner of this post notification.

Let us know how it works for you by creating a ticket here
    Thank You!`

We did a test to about 20 of our subscribers (over 230) and they all went through and the reports showed the same.

Going to try another production post to see what happens. Strange behavior.

    Anything else to look for?

Still many subscribers aren’t receiving the email notifications. Is there something else we can test to see what exactly is going on and why some folks aren’t receiving emails?

    Thanks,
    Mike

This is an email from my customer…I’d say something definitely isn’t right…

Mike, I just did a quick audit of the subscriber list on the dashboard from the latest post:

All 248 e-mails were sent and indicated same with a single check mark

106 (including the test account you just opened) were opened and indicated with a double check mark

Out of the 142 remaining with a single check mark, 36 of those subscribers never miss reading a post and many send me comments either on WP or via a personal e-mail. A few that I have spot checked in with claim not to have seen the last two posts.

The remaining subscribers who show a sent e-mail are only occasional readers.

So that is the audit results. Something is definitely wrong on some level?`

    Hi there,

I am really sorry for not replying to you in a timely manner.

One possible reason for opens not being tracked could be that subscribers have disabled the images in their email client. To track opens, email marketing solutions including the Email Subscribers plugin, add a hidden tracking pixel image to the email. Since images are blocked, this hidden image isn’t being rendered in the email, and thus email opens aren’t being tracked.

Though the possibility of images being blocked for that many subscribers is very less since most email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, enable it by default.
but if you can try finding some pattern for which email domains the issue occurring, that may be helpful in debugging the issue.

Also you can contact us here if you want us to look into the issue further.

    Thank you.
