• I tested this plugin and I don’t seem to see this plugin works with the BP Notification tab neither does it send the private message recipient an email whenever a private message is created. The plugin does create a popup notification button at the right lower corner with sound effect, which is really neat. But the user would have to be logged-in to know there’s a new PM for them. I can’t find any settings for this plugin so I’m guessing this is what this plugin can do.

My two cents is if you can still have new message reflect in the BP Notification tab (the number) plus sending an email to notify about the new PM, that would be better.

Another even cooler feature is if you can make available to admin the option of restricting access to this PM button separated from BP, and allow admin to determine which user role, or whatever method you’ll choose, to have access to this PM button, that would be a great feature. In other words, Admin can decide which groups of users can send PM, which others cannot.

    Hi there!

Notifications and emails will be created only for offline users (15 mins of inactivity) with cron.

    Thats how it works.

Will add more settings to admin in future for sure!

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Thank you for the reply. I just tested again offline and it works fine. Nice.

If you’ll really follow the idea of creating access restriction for PM, I believe this plugin will be the first one.

Sorry that I’m not a developer. Would you mind giving me some steps I can follow of how to achieve that – using hooks or anything else to restrict Buddypress PM to certain members only either by user role or any other means? Thank you.
