    Support,
We just moved a client’s website (EZClaim.com) to WPEngine (from Pair Networks) and also updated all the plugins, and we noticed this notification:

“Because of a change in your permalink structure, some of your SEO data needs to be reprocessed.”

We did not change anything associated with the Permalinks, and checked all the XML sitemaps (“See the XML sitemap”), and they look fine to us.

We have not done the “data optimization” because we don’t want to ‘mess up’ the SEO we have (or ‘break’ the site).

We have the latest version installed (15.6.2).

    Please advise.

    Thank you for your time,

  • Hi Mark!

Sorry for the confusion. If you haven’t done the “SEO Data Optimization” yet, that notice is also expected to show up. Can you please run that and see if it resolves the issue? Please note that if you have a large site, the process can take a while. If that’s the case for you, might as well let the plugin do the processing in the background (lazy indexing). If you don’t run that, the plugin will still process the optimization slowly as your content gets traffic. So you just have to wait and no action needed on your part.

    Rumejan,

Thanks for your quick response, but I asked ‘why’ this notice came up (since we didn’t change anything), what will it do to our XML sitemaps (will optimization change the XML maps), and should we do some kind of ‘back up’ of the XML map just in case (if something ‘bad’ happens)?

Just a bit ‘nervous’ about the optimization changing the XML maps in a ‘detrimental’ way for our client’s SEO.

If you haven’t done the “SEO Data Optimization” in the past, that notice is expected to show up. No, it will not change the XML sitemap generated by the plugin.

For the health and safety of your site, we always recommend creating regular backups of your site and database.
