Notification on Following Update

    Currently, no, there is no plan to add support for notifications for when a user you are following does something. This could also raise all types of issues with disabling certain notifications for different users, etc.

    It should be possible to add this type of functionality in a custom plugin for now. I’ll think about it.

    FYI, the friends component, which is bundled with BuddyPress, doesn’t add these type of notifications when a friend does something. Maybe raise a ticket on BuddyPress Trac and if a dev likes it, then I might consider doing the same thing with BP Follow.

    I’d like to thank you for getting back to me ??
    I must say the website I’m currently working on is a rather unique one, so I’ll think about creating a ticket about it.

    Interested in knowing how I could hook into buddypress’ notifications to create a notification of my own. Would you know of any resources in how I could go about creating this?

    +1 on this – would like to implement something similar, with e-mail notifications, configurable on the /username/settings/ page
