I’ve set up a notification for the author to receive the notification of any new comment but the default one keeps coming through. The notification has the Send to Author checked and nothing set for “Send To”. Does that need to have something selected for this to work cause I don’t want to have it sent to anyone else but the author of the post.

The Settings / Discussion / Email Me Whenever: Anyone posts a comment and a comment is held for moderation are selected.

    Hi @kaiavaughn1,
    Thanks for your message.

It’s worth checking that the comment notification settings in WordPress are set as per the ‘New Comment’ section of this page: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/available-notifications/

Let me know if this helps.

@voltronik I followed the instructions and now I am no longer even receiving any notifications. Is there a way to get on support with you privately to have you take a look?

    Hi @kaiavaughn1,
If you’re not receiving an email for new comments but you’ve followed the article I posted in my intial reply and you have a ‘New Comment’ notification set up in BNFW, then it might be a plugin or theme conflict causing an issue.

Please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

@voltronik I have done all of the troubleshooting tasks and I am receiving the email notifications but it’s still not overriding the default email.

    Hi @kaiavaughn1,
    Ok, thanks.

I haven’t been able to find any issues in my testing.
Can you tell me which notifications you’re using and post a link to a screenshot of your Settings > Discussion screen?

@voltronik I am trying to make a new comment made notification when one is created on a post. The site uses GravityView to create an entry and they have a review/comment section. When someone makes a comment, it sends the default email notification instead of the new one.

I’d also love to figure out a dynamic way to add the commenter to the email notification, if possible.

    Hi @kaiavaughn1,
    Thanks.

Is the site using a GravityView form to create the comment or is it using the standard WordPress comment form built into your theme?

    Thread Starter kaiavaughn1

    (@kaiavaughn1)

GravityView’s review comments are built on top of the WordPress discussion system, so that’s a regular comment form

    Hi @kaiavaughn1,
It still sounds like a plugin conflict to me as every test I do, it works as expected for me and I am able to override the New Comment notification.

What happens when you don’t use GravityView and test?
It may also be worth running through that link I sent through again to check each part of your set-up.
