    Hello,

after changing the php version to 8.1 on my web server i still receive notification mails. But – my mail client can not display them. The “Subject” is empty.

If i look into the mail source i can not see a problem. Only a “)” at a single line in the headder.

any other with the same problem and maybe a solution?

Hi @gkre, thanks for reaching out to us.

I’ve not seen a case of the headers being malformed due to a change of PHP version that I can reference. I would recommend sending an email to wftest @ wordfence . com, with your forum username in the subject line, containing the raw email headers that your email client is seeing.

Please let me know here once you’ve sent it so we can take a look. I may also require a site diagnostic to compare server versions and WordPress plugins. You can send this from the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. That can also be sent to wftest @ wordfence . com. Click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated.

Please respond here after you have sent them so I can take a look.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Hi @gkre, thanks for sending the headers over.

Did you try to send a site diagnostic too, as I’ve not received that? It may be relevant to using mini_sendmail as I’m not sure from the headers alone whether this is implemented by a WordPress plugin or the default method of sending mails from your server.

It could be worth checking in with your host/server administrator and showing them the headers with possible additional close-bracket character. Aside from the possibility your client isn’t receiving the email correctly, simply changing to another default mail sender on your server could be a solution to the formatting with PHP 8.1.

    Thanks again,
    Peter.

    Hello @wfpeter ,

i send the diagnostics but meanwhile also found the solution.

It is a bug in mini_sendmail. After my provider made an update now all mails are like before.

Thank you for assisting and sorry – i did not know that there’s an external mailer used. Thought it was an “buil-in” one.

    Good luck and stay safe.

No worries at all @gkre, I’m glad you found the source of the problem and were able to resolve.

If any questions crop up about Wordfence in future, by all means start a new topic and we’ll be happy to help out any time!

    Peter.
