    I am using PublishPress to send emails to club members of a small club when Forum topics/posts are tagged with “SendCNEW” as described in https://wp-content.co/automatically-email-users-new-post-alerts/#2-using-publishpress-plugin.

    It has been successful for like two years and worked 2 weeks ago on 8/12 looking at the email log, but failed yesterday/today each time tried like 4+ (and nothing in the email log for these). I used the debug page from PublishPress and searched for other help trying to solve my issue.

    My notification configuration looks like:

    Any suggestions on where I should look, what I should do? try? I haven’t changed the base function of WP v6.6.1 or plugins (perhaps auto updates happened) in this time window. I am on V4.4.0 which I see was updated 2 weeks ago. That timing suggests there may be a plugin update issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil Grove

    Hi @philgrove

    Thanks for using PublishPress Planner.

    Could I ask you to check this guidance please?

    Hi Riza,

    Thank you for getting back to me quickly. I used that guidance before entering my issue above and found the following:

    1. I already have Notifications Log (Email Log) installed and that I where I found that it was working 2 weeks ago. No attempt to cause a Notification in the last few days has caused an entry. These attempts used to work (stopping about 2 weeks ago).
    2. I don’t have the PRO version so the Async option doesn’t appear to be an option.
    3. Set Up CRON seems to require the Async option to be selected. It seems when I set up PublishPress originally, I worked through these issues.

    I think I have another issue. Could this have been caused by the PublishPress update that happened about 2 weeks ago?

    Thanks for all you assistance.

    Hiya, i had the same, also following the instruction from that wp-content.co page, and only wanted to send the mails but nothing happened.

    Till i went to Planner > Settings > Features, and uncheck “Async notifications”

    Than all started working here, i dont have the pro version, just the free one, as soon as i publish, the email notifications go out.

    Maybe it helps you.

    Hi Riza and Web-Pepper,

    I changed the Async setting per your instructions. Good news is the email was sent as you say.

    Unfortunately, I now find that the page in the forum where you click “Submit” times out and doesn’t naturally reload and the posting doesn’t get posted in the Forum. But, the email goes out each time – and quickly. Note, if I don’t case the email to send by adding the Tag, the item posts as expected.

    Any additional hints to get the posting and the email working at the same time?

    Thank you both for your assistance. I hope you both have an enjoyable holiday weekend.

    Can you elaborate more on this please?

    The PublishPress Notifications capability sends a posting to a distribution list when the Post has the Tag “SendCNEW” added. Per settings in:

    When I add the tag, the SUBMIT of a post button doesn’t seen to finish reloading the page after AND the Notification is sent AND the POST is not posted.

    When I DON’T add the tag, the SUBMIT of a post button is fast and the post is entered in the forum AND NO Notification is sent (as expected).

    @philgrove Are you attaching an image? I can’t see anything in your reply

    Hi Riza,

    Yes, I have tried to display two images in the topic. I have moved them to another place that may work better. I tried to insert the image, but that didn’t work. Here is a URL to the two images.

    @philgrove Thanks for your images.

    When I add the tag, the SUBMIT of a post button doesn’t seen to finish reloading the page after AND the Notification is sent AND the POST is not posted.

    Can you clarify if the “SUBMIT” button that you are referring to is on editing post screen when create new post?

    Yes, that is the one.

    One of our clients had the same issue. After disabling async, the notifications start working again. Thanks for the tip

    @mijnbedrijfonline Glad to hear that

    @philgrove Can you please share some screencast on your site showing how it behaves on the Submit button does not finish loading?
