Notice: wp_get_http is deprecated since version 4.4.0! Use WP_Http instead.

To fix the error:

1. Open /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/wordpress-importer.php in your favorite text editor.
2. go to line #991
3. replace wp_http with WP_Http::get

Line #991 should now read:
$headers = WP_Http::get( $url, $upload['file'] );

That change does not fix media library images being imported, when I tested it still has that issue.

I made the update with @phazephusion ‘s code and that fixed the error from displaying when importing media.

When I fixed the error notice, the images had already been imported, so I got the notice “already imported”. So even though I first got the wp_get_http deprecated error.

In the end, all good, thanks for the fix!

With it, that has your changes, the import works.
