Changing line 4067 seems to fix it, though it’s not really addressing the underlying problem.

Bump for same error… not sure what it does, doesn’t seem critical, but terrifies clients, currently preventing me using on production sites.

Great Plugin, I love the api

andrewgould’s solution simply ignores the error. The error occurs because

$wp_object_cache->cache

actually returns a copy of the array, so using

$wp_object_cache->cache['simple_fields'] = array();

doesn’t actually do anything.

The line could be replaced by

$cache = $wp_object_cache->cache;
$cache['simple_fields'] = array();
$wp_object_cache->cache = $cache;

which would actually work and not just suppress the error.

I may have fixed this now in the latest master, using voyd’s solutiion:

Can someone test and confirm?

I can confirm that in WP 4.1.1, overwriting my simple_fields.php file with the latest from master, did remove the errors for me.

I’d like to also note that this issue has only shown up in 1 of 4 WP admins that I’m able to check at the moment. As it doesn’t break anything, I think you should push the update.
