  • WP 3.9 uses a new version of the TinyMCE visual editor. Check for installed plugins that affect the Visual Editor by, for example, their adding new buttons or additional features. Disable them one by one and see what happens.

    If that doesn’t help then You probably have a Javscript conflict caused by either a plugin that doesn’t affect your visual editor or your theme. Will be a case of disabling all other plugins one-by-one and switching your theme temporarily (theme settings should remain on theme reactivation provided you don’t change any widgets).

    I did as you instructed: deactivating each plug-in, then refreshing my admin to see if the plug-in was the cause of the problem. I discovered that the culprit is the ZipList Recipe Plugin.

    I’ll notify the plug-in author of this problem.
