On one site, everything works perfectly with My Calendar as far as adding events, dates, times, and featured pic. When I submit it on the site that works, clicking on the date will then bring up the featured pic along with a link to the article. On a new site that I am creating, I installed the plugin and matched it exactly for the site is working, but when I publish it and go to the calender, nothing happens. No link, no pic, just nothing happens. I am trying to see what needs to be done. The new site is not ready to go public yet, but I have tested it live, and still the same results.

Any console errors? If you’re able to provide a link, I can try to help; but this isn’t a lot of information to go on. There are any number of possibilities, I just don’t have much to start with.

    Hi Joe,

I apologize for not replying sooner, but the new site has launched. That site is thetimetunnelgamer.com. I was wanting the widget on the left side when you click on the hamburger menu and also either on the left or right side of the page. My Calendar is working for my other site, thevrdimension.com, which I tried to replicate how I set it up. So I am not sure if something is missing, or what the case may be, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like the site is currently showing a ‘work in progress’ screen, but let me know if you bring it live again so I can take a look.

    Hi Joe,

Sorry about that, my site crashed and I was able to restore it, but the home page was messed up and I have been working on it to get it back. Let me remove the under construction now.

If you can disable the right click prevention, I can inspect this. Tools like that are just a hassle for debugging.

And just as a note, tools that are intended to prevent people from copying content from the site are pretty much worthless. They inconvenience people who are trying to use the site, but in no way prevent people from copying information from the site if they choose.

    Hi Joe,

I can disable it for a little while, however, I have had an issue with a few people stealing my articles and posting as their own, not only that, but it was word for word. This is why I have it up. Do you think you can look at it today?

This won’t protect against that. Anybody stealing your articles will be doing it via other methods, like RSS, remote HTML scraping, or via the REST API. It is extremely unlikely anybody would try to steal your content by manually visiting your site.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. So what would be the best thing to do to help from any type of stealing? Did you have a chance to check on why the MyCalendar is not working like it is supposed to?

    Hi Joe,

I was following up to see if you had the chance to see what was going on?

So it appears that all of the data- attributes used to trigger the modal are missing in your widget. That probably means that the theme is running widgets through some extra sanitizing that’s removing any attributes it doesn’t recognize, though I don’t know any specifics.

I did some research in the support forums for your theme, and I can see that it is using wp_kses() with a custom array of allowed HTML in at least some scenarios, so this seems pretty highly likely to me. In that case, the problem is that your theme is breaking the plugin by removing important reference information.

Regarding securing your content: there is no way to secure your content from theft and also publish it online. The only thing you can do is monitor for theft and serve copyright violation notices to hosts when it happens.

    Thank you.
