I recently created a new page on my site that uses the Lodestar theme. When I tried to add that page to my main menu, it added it fine, but when you click the new link in the menu it takes you to an error page that says “Nothing Found. It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.”

I have verified that I added the correct page to the menu and everything looks fine in the Page setup. Even “Preview Changes” takes me to the Nothing Found page, though.

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

Forgive the question – but when you say “re-saving”, do you mean just go into that section in settings and click save again? I tried that and it didn’t do anything.

    Yeah, that’s what I meant.

What’s the URL of the page with the problem? Do any other posts or pages have the same problem?

    https://leadseek.net/testimonials/

This is the only page with the issue.

Is that actually a page, or a category, tag, or something that’s supposed to list a certain content type (like testimonials).

If it’s a category, tag, or something that’s supposed to list a certain content type (like testimonials), it will continue to say “Not Found” until it’s actually filled with content.

No it’s an actual page with content saved.

Ok, and you don’t get the same error if you save it with any different slug?

    If that is correct:

    1. Are you using any plugin to manage custom content types, like Testimonials?

    2. Do you have a /testimonials/ directory in your site’s files? (for that, you’ll need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these))

I don’t know what you mean by save it with any different slug.

I’m not using a plug-in, just the Lodestar theme out of the box.

I have verified that the directory does exist in the site files.

When you edit the post, below the title you’ll see the post’s URL. Edit that to something else, like even example, it’s just a test to see if it makes any difference.

Also, do you have the same problem when using the Twenty Seventeen theme?

    Thread Starter leadseek

    (@leadseek)

That seems to have solved the problem. I just changed it to /praise/ and now it’s fine.

In case it still matters, no, I have never run across this problem before.

    Thanks for your help.

Ah, ok. I suspect then that your theme may have a Testimonials custom type, which works sort of like a category listing, and the page is reserved for that. It has no testimonials (as defined by the theme) to display, hence the Not Found.

In that case, I’d suggest either sticking with /praise/ or a different theme, or check with the theme’s support on how the Testimonials feature works. ??

But that’s the thing, it was titled “Testimonials”, but it was categorized as a page. There is a testimonials widget, but it’s never labeled as a page. Anyway, thanks for the help. Problem solved.
