Nothing displayed after Step 1

  • I am trying to install wordpress with XAMPP and WAMP but not able to do so with any of them. I get create config file message & then step 1 where I get option to enter details of Database name, Username, Password,.. But after it doesnt proceed. It displays blank screen. Even if I create config file manually by editing the contents of wp-config-sample.php file & renaming it, it shows blank screen on opening of wordpress through any of above server. Can anyone help me & suggest what is the problem with it & how can I install wordpress on my system further.

    To start, check System Requirements:
    ?PHP version 5.2.4 or higher.
    ?MySQL version 5.0 or higher.

    MySQL version is: 5.1.37
    PHP Version 5.3.0
    I am using XAMPP 1.7.2 which has both version installed on my laptop.

    Try turning off the firewall during the installation process.

    You might also want to check your logfiles and see why it is failing. XAMPP log files by by default are kept at:

    \xampp\apache\logs\error.log
