Nothing But Problems
-
I downloaded this plugin at 10 am this morning. I have been working with it all afternoon to try and get it to display properly and actually transition between images.
After a while of fiddling with the core files, and readjusting a whole ton of the jquery I was able to get it to display. Other than that the only time it would transition is if it were on a single post page ( is_single() ). Another page I placed it on it either never loaded images, loaded the first image and never transitioned, gave me a “dividing by zero” error or threw 10 javascript errors.
The plugin never created thumbnails properly which forced me to generate them my self, a lot of the jQuery was conflicting with my already existing plugins and scripts I had written before. I am all for supporting wordpress plugin developers, and had high hopes for this one, but after countless hours messing with settings and fixing bug’s there is no way I can use this plugin.
Far too many errors, and the functionality doesn’t even all work. No way would I support a plugin when the FREE version is far from helpful. I am having a hard time understanding how this was downloaded over 7 million times.
I will be going with one of Next Gen Gallery’s competitors for future implementations of image sliders. I am very disappointed in this company.
I don’t know what ‘company’ decided to buy this favorite plugin, but whoever made that call is running it right in to the ground. And who would pay $39 a year for this? Maybe a one time fee, but recurring? Really? lol…for shame.
