Note for a certain role is not displayed to the user who has the role

    Hello,
    I create a note and want this note to be displayed to all users who, for example, have the role “Agency_Pro”. Unfortunately, these users do not see the note.

    Only when I set the note for the role “Author” do the users with the role “Agency_Pro” see the note. But so do all other users. Unfortunately, I cannot specify that a certain note is only displayed for a certain role.

    Hi G?sta,

    I usually update my plugins with each major WordPress release. I think the next update is at the beginning of November, so will be working on this in October hopefully can get it fixed up in time.

    that’s not nice. I think it’s a mistake and mistakes should be fixed immediately. So not at some later release date of WordPress.

    After looking into this, I can confirm that this is correct:

    “Unfortunately, I cannot specify that a certain note is only displayed for a certain role.”

    Roles are hierarchical, so anything that less capable roles can do, so can any roles that are more capable. For example, Author level roles can do anything that Subscriber roles can do. Likewise Editor level roles can do anything that Authors and Subscribers can do, and so forth.

    So with that in mind, this is why the plugin cannot display notes only for a specific role; because of the hierarchical nature of how roles work in WordPress. Only Admin (or Super Admin) users can have notes that are displayed only to them.

    Bottom line: it’s just not something the plugin can do at this time.
