• This seemed to be a theme with such potential… really great design, typography, everything. Sadly, it is just not worth the trouble.

    – No compatibility with 90% of the plugins, including Everest Forms, Events Calendar, and more.
    – Forces you to install a separate plugin for customization, still doesn’t let you change the font.

Wish I could give it zero stars.

  • Hey,

I’m really sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with our Vasco theme. We believe in the good that can be done, so we thought that a lite version of the Vasco PRO theme might be a great option for those who don’t need all the features. This is how Vasco Lite came up.

We always try to keep things as simple as possible, so we didn’t pretend it’s going to be compatible with all the plugins out there (However, I guess this is not possible). Vasco Lite provides the basic options that someone might need. Also, Customify plugin is not mandatory, but it helps to customize the site easily.

Even if it’s a free product, we put time and afford into building it up and we’re constantly looking for improvements. So if you have specific suggestions, just let me know.

    Regards,

    Hello @alinclamba

I appreciate your response to the review, not many people do that. My reasons for the negative feedback:

    1. The theme absolutely breaks The Events Calendar and Everest Forms — the frontend archives are broken even after removing plugin CSS.

    2. There is no Category archive whatsoever. I have categories active with posts, but their archive /category/name shows empty “nothing found try searching”. Refreshed permalinks a million times, disabled all plugins, definitely a theme issue.

    3. Same as #2 for custom taxonomies. Only CPTs can be displayed.

I understand that you have a Pro theme with full features and that’s very fair to be honest.. but I do believe a working archive for taxonomies and basic compatibility with some highly popular plugins is not too much to ask. I’m not sulking about “no dropdown menus and no widget areas” — I’m just disappointed by the lack of basic functionality here, as this was one awesome and highly usable theme otherwise.

    Hey,

Thanks for taking the time and sharing the details and reasons for your feedback. We’re not looking for positive feedback only, we’re interested in negative reviews, too, because they help us improve our products. So, I went ahead and took every issue you mentioned. Let’s take them one by one.

#1. The theme absolutely breaks The Events Calendar and Everest Forms — the frontend archives are broken even after removing plugin CSS

I’ve just made a fresh theme install and added these two plugins — Everest Forms and The Events Calendar. Everything worked just fine for me. The only thing I noticed is that The Events Calendar needs some integration with the theme in terms of styling (CSS). But I didn’t notice any other kind of problem. ??

#2. There is no Category archive whatsoever. I have categories active with posts, but their archive /category/name shows empty “nothing found try searching”. Refreshed permalinks a million times, disabled all plugins, definitely a theme issue.

Even if it shouldn’t matter, can you please tell me the permalinks structure you use? I’ve just tried with Postname and the category archive is correctly working.

#3. Same as #2 for custom taxonomies. Only CPTs can be displayed.

Can you give me a few more specific details about the custom taxonomies you want to have?

It’s wired, to be honest, because I can’t replicate at least the first two issues from the three you mentioned. Is there a chance you can give me access to your site? You can send me a link via email if you want, to [email protected]

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks,
    Alin
