After upgrading to 4.0 images would no longer upload. After proceeding one by one through the installed plugins, deactivating WP Smuch.it got images uploading again.

The error i was receiving was a max execution time error. Running out at 30 seconds for even the smallest (30kB) image files.

  • Hi @ewistrand,

You were acing the problem because the Yahoo API might be busy at the time you were uploading images.

You can disable Auto Smushing on Upload option, if you face any such issues and re-enable later when it is working fine for you.

Images upload slow, as the auto smushing sends over the image to yahoo server as soon as it gets uploaded, before updating the metadata. And if Yahoo server doesn’t replies or take time to compress image, the uploading process halts.

If auto smushing takes time or doesn’t works for you, you can smush the images, once they are uploaded instead, by using bulk action bulk_smush available in media library list view.

    Thanks for posting
