Not working with post duplication plugins

    Overview: CPT created with pods framework is not duplicating custom fields while using duplication plugins like Duplicate Post.

    I have a CPT created with pods framework. To create custom fields I use CustomFieldSuite.

    When I click clone or New Draft for CPT, custom fields on the new object are empty. On pages and posts everything works fine, so I doubt that its an issue with CustomFieldSuite. It has something to do with pods.

    Anyone having this issue and knows how to solve this?

    What I tried:
    1) Re installing pods and Duplicate Post
    2) Trying another plugin for post duplication, still no result.

    All plugins and WP are on the latest version.

  • Just FYI.. I use both Pods (half dozen+ custom post types) AND the “Duplicate Post” plugin.

    Duplicate Post has no problems copying over all my fields from Pods (assuming a field is not selected as “ignore” in the Duplicate Post settings).

    Then again, I do not play around mixing custom fields using both Pods AND CustomFieldSuite. ??

    Just another data-point.

    I use CustomFieldSuite because it gives the looping fields which pods at this point does not support.

    Yeah. I too am waiting on Pods 3.0. ??

    For many people, editing in a modal with the new List View supports what most people ‘need’ in Loop Fields, until we do add Field Groups and Repeating Field Groups in 2.8 and 2.9/3.0.

    As to the issue with duplicating Pods, I’ve never had any issue with duplication using the Duplicate Post. The only case where I would see it possibly being an issue is with the relationship fields, since they exist in both wp_postmeta and wp_podsrel and I doubt that Duplicate Post is going to interface with wp_podsrel.

    Pods does expect all fields created with it to be registered with Pods. Custom Field Suite should just be creating ‘groups’ of fields within Pods, not replacing all field management. I would expect that what you’re running into is some issue with configuration/copying, etc. that would probably need to be addressed with a bug report to Custom Fields Suite and Pods on our GitHub:
