  • I agree… I can’t seem to get it to work, plus it’s gone from my plugin section and I can’t deactivate it, or delete it… PLUS it seems odd to me that I go to the plugins main site and a malware warning comes up.

    what’s the deal here?

where do you get the malware warning? I did have some malware issues on my site, but it has been cleaned.

How did you install the plugin? I have no problems installing it on WP 3.1.2

The malware warning is on the plugin author site.

You can search and install the plugin through the plugin dashboard, and it appears in the sidebar as though you can upload ads, etc., however the plugin does not show in the plugin list and the widget does not display any ads in the sidebar.

I am the plugin author ?? and the malware warnings should have been corrected some time ago, do you still see the warning, and if so, who is showing you the warning (which software)

What other plugins are you using, maybe there is a specific combination of plugins that causes problems. I have not experienced this problem before and I’m using the plugin on several different blogs.

I went ahead and added the widget back into my clients sidebar so you can have a look at the source code – bottom of the sidebar:

    https://www.mcpactions.com/blog/

Other plugins are basic – SEO, Lightbox, ExecPHP, Google analytics, sitemap, there are about 42 active plugins (well, 43 I guess if yours showed up in the plugins panel). Upgraded to the most recent version of WP and it disappeared.

The malware warnings were delivered by WOT (web of trust add on/firefox) for me, not sure about the other person.

She is really hoping that you have a solution for why it would not appear. Is there something in the plugin that requires something particular in theme functions for the widgets?

Also – the IP2nation stats TOTALLY jam up the database and impact site load – any fix for that yet?

strange stuff… I’ll be available for some troubleshooting in about 3 hours if that is ok for you. I’m sure we can get this working for your client.

As to the ip2nation database: it’s a little add-on that you don’t have to use. The database isn’t that big that it should impact load times

    Yes I’ll be around. Thanks!

I emptied the IP2nation table, that helped a ton – couldn’t even optimize the database it was so big.

is it possible to get a full backup of your wordpress installation for testing? I’m currently setting up a server account with a clean install, I really want to get to the bottom of this problem you are having…

What are you looking for – just the WP files with plugins?

plus the MySQL database. If your hosting account uses cpanel you should download the home directory backup and the MySQL backup

    (@intricateartist)

    Okay then, no – I can’t do that. It’s a client site.

UPDATE — Ad buttons is working fine, Firefox addon “adblockplus” has added the buttons plugin to the easy filters list so it does not appear in either the plugin directory or on the site even with the widget inserted. Disable ABP on the site & test in IE and Safari to verify.

    All is well.

    Thank you Nico! *donation forthcoming*
