    Good Day,

Your plugin is awesome and we gave it a five-star review.

Upon thorough testing, however, we noticed that our website’s image sizes were not reduced much after converting all of our images from WebP to AVIF. So, we deactivated and deleted your plugin.

We could have saved a lot of testing time had your online test drive tool properly detected all of our per-page images.

Can you kindly update your test drive tool such that it will capture all images (all formats), then compare them with the optimized versions generated by Optimole?

To confirm our finding, you’re welcome to test the websites listed below using your online tool.

    What did we miss?

    Thank you ??

  • Hi @generosus,
Thanks for the feedback on this. Alternatively you can always test your website on PSI, WebPageTest.org, GTMetrix before and after installing Optimole to see the speed difference of your website.

That being said, your feedback is really valuable and I can also replicate this issue. I’ll pass it to the team to look deeper into this.

    Hey @isaumya,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we tested our website before and after installing Optimole.

We used PSI, WebPageTest, GTMetrix, SpeedVitals, DebugBear, and Uptrends for determining the benefits of using Optimole-generated AVIF images vs. our native WebP images.

In all cases, our performance scores dropped 1-5% (consistently) when using your plugin (i.e. AVIF images). We were suprised since AVIF images — on average — are 40-50% lighter than WebP images.

So, in short, once your improve your test drive tool, we should be able to determine if your plugin could be beneficial (vs. performing a complete plugin install and test).

Glad you were able to replicate our finding. Looking forward to what your developers have to say.

By the way, your tester should behave like this one ??

    Hi @generosus,
That is really wired. Have you tested your website on your browser itself? Was it still slower with AVIF? It just makes no sense how this can be possible as AVIF is much smaller and faster image format.

    Hi @isaumya,

Yes, it’s weird. The issue could be caused by many factors which we’ll explore after your test drive tool is fixed.

Once fixed, we’ll be able to compare your tool’s results with actual results and dig a bit deeper into this.

    Thank you.

    Hi @generosus,
Will keep you posted when the issues are fixed with the testing tool.

    Hey @isaumya,

    Update:

Upon further review, it appears your Test Drive tool is not properly detecting both background and lazy loaded images, only images above the fold.

Your competitors’ tools are capturing all of them (regardless of how they’re loaded).

Something to consider when updating your code to fix your Test Drive tool.

Please leave this topic open until it’s actually resolved.

    Thank you ??

    Good Day!

Your Test Drive tool is still not detecting all images on our website, so we have no way of telling if your plugin is worth the try.

What’s the latest on this? When can we expect your tool to be fixed?

Please do not close this topic as “Resolved” until it actually is.

    Thank you!

Thank you for your message and for bringing this matter to our attention. I apologize for any confusion caused by marking the thread as resolved.

In our support process, we consider an issue resolved from the support side once it has been thoroughly documented and handed over to our development team for resolution.

I’m sorry but I unfortunately don’t have any ETA at my hand right now. If I had I would be more than happy to share it with you.

I would suggest you reach out to https://optimole.com/contact about this to see if the team can give any ETA on this to you.
