Not working for China ips

  • Hello,

    Thanks for the plugin, I installed, but it does not seem to be working.

    I have a block of content to display only for China IPs.

    I use:

    [CBC show="y" country="cn"]
content here....
[/CBC]

    I found that it does not work. When accessing the page from China IP, the content does not show up.

    But if use a VPN to “pretend” to be a Japan visitor, this block of content shows up.

    What would be wrong?

    It’s quite possible that it’s not accurate for those particular IPs.

    What is your output for the shortcodes:
    CBC_COUNTRY
    CBC_CODE
    CBC_IP

    It outputs my correct local IP address.
    But shows USA as the country.
    So you are correct, the IP are not accurate.

    Any solutions?

    The solution may be to buy a commercial database or try another one of the free ones. I may rewrite this plugin to take a whole other approach, but I don’t have the spare time to invest into this at the moment.

    I just checked whether or not the plugin works properly in China and as a matter of fact it does.

    With an IP address in China (Shanghai in my case), you will see:

    I only appear in China.

    With an IP address other than China, you will see:

    I appear everywhere, BUT China.

    The site loads incredibly slow when not on a VPN, but that most likely has to do with my local internet connection in relation to the location of my webhost.
