Not working correctly anymore: Send this notification to the Author

    Hello support!

    First of all: thanks for this great plugin which has become a vital part of my blog. Your work is absolutely awesome.

    Sinc the last update (my “feeling”) the following is not working correctly anymore:

    I use a notification “Post – Comment Approved” which works good. I ticked “Send this notification to the Author” to send an mail to the post author if a comment for his post had been approved.

    The problem: the mail is send to the commentator instead to the post author. I checked this with the plugin Post SMTP. The feature worked before but now its working differently somehow…

    Is this issue already known?

    Thanks for your message.

    Yes, this functionality has been improved and was mentioned in the plugin changelog. New details can be found here under the ‘Send this notification to the Author only’ section: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/adding-a-new-notification/
    The improved system gives much more control over the comment notification workflow. To quote the support document:

    Ticking this checkbox for the below notifications will cause the notification to go to the POST author:

    New Comment
    New Comment Awaiting Moderation
    Page – New Comment
    Page – New Comment Awaiting Moderation
    Media – New Comment
    Media – New Comment Awaiting Moderation

    But ticking this checkbox for the below notifications will cause the notification to go to the COMMENT author:

    Comment Reply – send to the author of the original comment (i.e. not the author of the comment reply)
    Post / Custom Post Type – Comment Approved
    Page – Comment Reply – send to the author of the original comment (i.e. not the author of the comment reply)
    Page – Comment Approved
    Media – Comment Reply – send to the author of the original comment (i.e. not the author of the comment reply)
    Media – Comment Approved
