Hi, the tag generated should look something like: [honeypot honeypot-919]

Not working for me either – getting lots of spam.

Getting killed by spam – when you say “replace the name honeypot” do you mean remove the whole thing? Why does it generate that name to begin with?

    For example, should it be:

    [honeypot Address-365]

    or

    [Address-365]

    Please help. thanks

[honeypot] is just the barebones shortcode that CF7 then replaces with the HTML that the honeypot plugin generates. So you definitely need that “honeypot” in there… the second part is the HTML element ID, so that should change to something more appealing to spammers as in your first example: [honeypot Address-365] … or maybe something like [honeypot email-address] (just make sure the name doesn’t conflict with any other fields in the form.

    Hi!
My short code is [honeypot City id:127576] but I got spam messages from bots without visiting my website (I can’t see anyone visited contact form page but I’ve got messages anyway).

Honeypot works when I fill hidden field by hands (thanks to FireBug).
May be do not all bots try to fill honeypot-field?
Thanks in advance for your support!

Hi same here, put the shortcode [honeypot tchat-369]
and getting lot of spams… any idea ?

The honeypot is no guarantee against spam. It works on the premise that bots will fill out whatever fields are present to them (as they’re bots, and they don’t know better). All I can suggest, again, is that you give the honeypot an enticing (to a spammer) name — like “email-address” or something like that.

As for a spam bot sending spam through a contact form but not accessing the page — I don’t know how that would be possible. Perhaps it’s just not loading the page with Javascript on, and thus not triggering JS-powered analytics?
