It does work with nginx. You’ve to edit the nginx server block like on here. https://github.com/rosell-dk/webp-express/issues/166

You can also simply switch to “CDN friendly” mode and use bulk conversion for existing images and “convert on upload” for new images. For rules, you can also check the faq
