• It is so bizarre that entering a recipe doesn’t create a recipe post — you then have to create another post to insert the short code into. I’ve used the older plugin that was a little more user friendly. I’ve tried it on several sites and I really strongly dislike it’s non-intuitive flow and how, with all the hoots and whistles. I definitely don’t like that these are just posts and not separate as recipes.

Update… well, I am changing my review. After watching numerous videos by other users, I was able to learn how to use this plugin. I can see that it IS much better than I originally thought. I would love to see better tutorials on how to use it. AND you really do need to make ALL of your templates responsive in mobile (my favorite is not).

    Hi there,

I’m sorry you feel that way!

The reason for inserting recipes into regular posts instead of having a separate recipe post type is much better compatibility with all the other plugins and themes in the WordPress space. Those are used to working with regular posts.

That said, the easiest workflow is to actually just start by creating a post and just immediately create the recipe where you need it to be: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/67-creating-a-recipe

That way you don’t have to create a recipe first and then insert it into another post. Are there any issues with that workflow?

I also feel like WP Recipe Maker does a great job of organizing recipes with its Manage page where you immediately get an overview of all recipes on your website and can sort and filter by all sorts of fields: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/71-managing-recipes

Any recommendations on how we can make this better?

I’m a bit sad getting my first 1 star rating for WP Recipe Maker so I’d love to understand your issues and make things more user friendly for you.
