• Hi there,

Not sure if you can help as this is quite a customised index page of my template.

I show the first 3 posts on my frontpage. After that the remainder are in a list at the bottom of the page.

I also have Matt’s asides working also anf that is where the problem lies.

Everything works as intended until new posts are added and the asides are pushed down into the list area. As you can see here – https://www.elyonline.co.uk – the asides just push into the list but cannot display as the list because of different formatting.

Is there anyway I can hide the asides from the frontpage when they are no longer in the top 3 posts?

I am willing to pay if needed to get this fixed as it is driving me insane.

You can see full index source here: https://phpfi.com/63474

    Pleasse help me ??

    Cheers

  • Well, I validated the page and there are only a few errors that need to be cleaned up, but nothing that would indicated a problem with display.

I looked at the site in MSIE and Firefox and see nothing “wrong” with the page in both sites. I am not a fan of styling the user’s scroll bars, though, and luckily, Firefox stops that silliness, but it is evident in MSIE. Save yourself some bandwidth and get rid of the styles for the scrollbars.

On the single post page, you have comments closed but a HUGE (way too much information) explanation on using comments. If you are using any of the conditional tags like found in the Default WordPress Theme’s comments.php, you can move that text up into the “if comments open” so they don’t show up when the comments are closed. But edit this stuff DOWN. Way to much information to read for such a clean site.

The site is great. Clean looking, neat pictures, great use of plugins and information.

Can’t see what you are talking about and if there is a problem, then resize the container that is causing the problem and the ones around it. That might help.

    Hi Lorelle,

Many thanks for the suggestions ??

I have streamlined my comment guidelines and may remove the scroll styling.

The trouble with me is that I am not very good at explaining what is wrong ??

If you look at the frontpage and then check out the ‘older entries’ you can see an aside there which looks plain ugly. I just wanted a way that would hide ‘asides’ from the frontpage once they are no longer in the top 3 posts of the page (by that I mean a new post has been added the the ‘aside’ has moved down).

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks ??
